Several years ago the world knew Serbia as a war torn and desolate
country.
Today, visitors will be surprised to
find Serbia to be a welcoming and beautiful holiday destination.
Serbia offers year round entertainment for visitors but the country truly shines from December
to May, Serbia ski season.
Serbia has risen from its war torn ashes and offers guests an
economical alternative to many other major ski destinations.
The many mountain slopes are perfect for skiers of all levels,
from beginners to pros. Serbia offers ski deals which will save you money but you will not lose out on the
fantastic skiing opportunities.
Lift
Information
The Serbian government has poured money into the country’s tourist
economy. Ski resorts have been one of the major beneficiaries of the government’s largesse. All Serbia skiing areas
offer numerous lifts with zero wait time on most days. Chair lifts are available for one to four people and
draglifts are extremely popular with younger skiers. Gondolas and funiculars can also be found at some
resorts.
The Kopaonik Serbia ski resort has over twenty ski lifts. As the
popularity of Serbia as a ski destination grows more and more lifts are being added to all resorts. The Serbian ski
lift systems are state of the art, safe, and well maintained.
Cross
Country Skiing
Serbia offers some of the world’s best cross-country skiing.
Serbia ski resorts offer cross-country ski packages for their guests. Packages include rental equipment and a
guide. Tours can be booked for one day of cross country skiing or longer trips with up to eight hours of cross
country skiing each day. Serbia’s dramatic landscape makes for fascinating cross-country skiing. Cross-country
skiers will get to see the beautiful countryside and many of Serbia’s attractions.
Types of
Accommodations
Guests planning a Serbia ski holiday will want to reserve
accommodations at one of the country’s ski resorts. Kopaonik, Stara Planina, Brezovica, and Tara are the most
popular destinations and offer luxurious resort accommodations at great prices.
All resorts offer ski packages that include lift passes,
accommodations, and meals. Rental equipment is also available at All Serbia ski resorts.
Best Way
to Get there
Visitors coming into the country for a ski vacation will fly into
Belgrade, the location of Serbia’s international airport. All major carriers offer non-stop flights from most
European capitals into Belgrade. A direct flight from London is just under three hours.
The airport offers several rental car options for guests who want
to drive to the slopes. Other options include the Serbian rail system, which is very efficient, or the bus system,
which is very economical.
Après
Ski
After a day of skiing, guests will find that Serbia ski resorts
offer many other activities. The Kopaonik Serbia ski resort has a “town square” with many bars and restaurants.
Guests can enjoy lively traditional Serbian entertainment and take pleasure in a rakija, a traditional Serbian
fruit liqueur. Shopping is another great activity and visitors will find many stores and boutiques located on the
square.
All of the Serbia ski resorts offer similar entertainment. The
resorts also offer sleigh rides, spa services, horse rides, and toboggan rides.
